Since 2015, multiple World Bank projects have supported strengthening health systems across Morocco and Tunisia, focusing on service delivery, system-building, and human-centric care. In Morocco, a rural early childhood development program reached over 511,000 new beneficiaries, raising the share of women receiving at least one health or nutrition service during pregnancy from zero to 86% in target areas, while health insurance coverage rose to 80% of the population by 2023, up from 70% the year before. A separate reform program rehabilitated 200 primary health care facilities and trained an additional 10,500 nurses and health technicians between 2024 and 2025.
