WHO Issues Urgent Appeal for $6.42 Million The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean has issued an urgent appeal for US$ 6.42 million to sustain lifesaving health and nutrition interventions across Somalia, Sudan, and Djibouti, as part of its broader $25.4 million response to the Greater Horn of Africa food insecurity and health crisis. 🇸🇴 Somalia 🇸🇩 Sudan 🇩🇯 Djibouti WHO’s Regional Director Dr. Hanan Balkhy has warned that of the $1.12 billion WHO requires globally for emergency operations in 2026, more than half is needed in the Eastern Mediterranean Region – yet over 40% of those funds remain unmet. Without immediate funding, critical health and nutrition interventions will be reduced or interrupted, leaving millions of vulnerable people without access to essential care. |
