Dr. El Saharty serves as a Senior Health Policy Advisor and Consultant at the World Bank in Washington, DC, where he worked for 25 years, most recently as Lead Health Policy Specialist.

Former Leadership & Professional Experience

Prior to joining the World Bank in 1999, he held senior roles with USAID, WHO, UNFPA, Harvard University, The American University in Cairo, and Pathfinder International. He also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of International Health at Georgetown University.

He has worked across more than 30 countries in the MENA region, Africa, Asia, and the United States as a researcher, technical advisor, and international consultant on health systems strengthening, health insurance, and sector reform programs.
