Biography:
Dr. Rashad Sheikh is a strategic global health and policy leader with over 20 years of international experience strengthening health systems, improving governance and health financing, and advancing equitable service delivery across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. He currently provides strategic leadership and high-level technical support to governments and global partners to integrate immunization within Primary Health Care (PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agendas, with a particular focus on zero-dose and underserved populations, community health systems, and emergency preparedness in fragile and humanitarian settings.
A recognized expert in health strategy, PHC reform, health financing, immunization, community health systems, resilience, and emergency response, Dr. Rashad has led and supported major programs across Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and beyond. He has built and managed strategic partnerships with Gavi, WHO, CDC, the Pandemic Fund, and the Gates Foundation to mobilize resources, strengthen governance, and drive sustainable, data-informed impact.
He is also a strong advocate for applying artificial intelligence and digital innovation in health to strengthen service delivery, workforce performance, surveillance, health financing analytics, and decision-making in complex and resource constrained settings. Dr. Rashad is committed to thought leadership and global knowledge exchange, contributing to high level forums shaping health systems reform and resilience. Dr. Rashad holds an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from LSE and LSHTM, an Executive MBA from the Maastricht School of Management, and the Arab Board certification in Community Medicine. He has also completed leadership programs at Harvard, strengthening his strategic and executive capabilities.
