The World Health Organization (WHO) launched a US$30.3 million flash appeal to support its emergency health response to the escalating conflict across the Middle East, including Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Jordan. The appeal covers the period from March to August 2026 and aims to sustain life-saving health services in countries where health systems are under severe pressure due to intensified hostilities, mass displacement, and rising casualties. According to WHO, more than 4.3 million people have been displaced. Hospitals are experiencing a surge in trauma cases while struggling to maintain essential services such as maternal and child healthcare. The situation is further worsened by increased risks of disease outbreaks caused by disrupted water systems and declining vaccination coverage. |
